Not the best of pictures but these were the 2 wagons in the consist of the 6X42 Swindon Transfer - Hinksey Sidings for reference to the topic in the discussion forum, unable to eyeball them in there particular location
I visited Fitzgerald's storage yard again today to try and solve the 011611 / 011609 puzzle. Since my visit on 16/4, huge racks have been installed around the edges of the yard, and all the trollies and trailers have been placed on them, some complete, and others dismantled. Luckily, the four Mini 4-4 trailers have been placed on the racks with their builders plates visible, and a photo was taken of each to finally sort out the puzzle. Despite the ' 011611 ' trailer having a big 011611 white sticker on it, the builders plate shows clearly it is 1T/006 finally confirming it is 011609. The other three are 1T/038 (011667), 1T/039 (011668) and 1T/041 (011670). We can now put that one to rest.
You are spot on it does indeed. Checked my photos and a slightly different angle clearly shows it. These 2 machines ,950 & 1, are dedicated to the Borders Rail Electrification Work. They are working between Newcraighall and Tweedbank on the Old Waverley Route, Edinburgh - Carlisle. If you don't get them at Blantyre could be a long search to spot them. Happy hunting
This machine was advertised for sale at Ribble in October 2025 and was noted inside the shed at Peak Rail, Rowsley in late March 2026. Arrival date unknown. No identity found on the outside but the number 4199 was seen in the cab.
This vehicle was purchased by Railogical Ltd in 2022 and partially refurbished at XYZ Rails depot prior to XYZ Rails Scotland depot being closed in Jan 2024. Subsequently sold to another RRV operator in 2026
This was added from photos on a Facebook group. The registration is as entered. It was working with S Duffy machinery but it was not possible to work out if this vehicle was also owned by S Duffy, or branded at all. I have enquired with the original poster.
On a visit to Fitzgerald's storage yard on 16/4, it was noted that all the structures are in the process of being broken up and removed. Consequently, all the various trollies and trailers previously on top of the containers are now at ground level, including the three Mini 4-4 frames which were shotblasted and repainted, but unfortunately carry no form of identity of any kind. By checking back over the years when quite a number were upgraded / repaired on site, the only three that have not been seen since are 901154 (last noted 8/6/21), 901165 (last noted 7/8/20), and 901192 (last noted on 1/8/20). Does anybody know whether this conjecture is correct ? Also down on the ground is the infamous 011609 / 011611, and it is correct that 011609 is carried on one end, and 011611 on the front end. What is most noticeable however, is that the large NR sticker on the front of the trailer proclaims it to be 011611, and is printed as such !! The mystery deepens. Can somebody sort this one out finally ?
Whilst looking for details relating to the Schweerbau RGE2 rail grinder, I found the following procurement document for Nexus Tyne & Wear Metro, which may relate to this vehicle :
From what I can gather, one power car from this unit - "A" was displayed at Innotrans, September 2024. Upon completion, all four cars were sent to the Kent & East Sussex Railway for testing in July 2025. Clearly on completion of testing the unit was moved to LU by January 2026.
The power units were built by Schoma in 2023, but I have no details of works numbers. However, a company called Rail-Tec have applied plates to three of the vehicles :
Power Car 'A' - Rail Tec 20237225 /2023
Rail Grinder - Rail Tec 20227190 /2023
Power Car 'B' - Rail Tec 20237226 /2023
Is anyone able to confirm which 'Rail Tec' was involved with these units - it seems to be a popular name in the world of railway engineering

Hi Roger - you've added these two records as
009437 - LTE036
009438 - LTE035
Could you just re-confirm the LTE numbers of these please?Should the LTE numbers be in numerical sequence? Or are they out-of-sequence?
